Scott 299 phono stage hum

Posted by Joejabs on February 20, 2000 at 05:19:05:

I've recently finished(I thought) rebuilding this old gem but can't seem to get my TT hooked up properly. When I use the "Mag 1" input I get nothing but loud hum in all selector positions. "Mag 2 High" will give me output but with nowhere near enough gain. "Mag 2 Low" gives nothing but hum in all positions. I've tried various grounding ideas but the hum is very bad and there seems to be no output from Mag 2 low or Mag 1 at all. Also swapped tubes around as well. Question is am I hooking TT up properly or do I have some more work to do on the amp. Sound is great from tuner and cdp, no noise at all.

Thanks in advance, Joe
