The AVA Super PAS 4i is a DECENT preamp. With tubes of respectable quality, it will serve you well for many years.
In addition to the LPS 'X7, the Russians are currently producing 5751s. Considering the price, give them a tumble too.
Do you use the phono section of your preamp? If you do, buy quality, quiet, NOS for those positions. While they are costly, the late 1950s vintage MAZDA 'X7s are extremely quiet. Contact Kevin Deal at AA sponsor Upscale Audio if you are interested.
