Without reading the other replies or recommendations from the manufacturer, here is what I hear from my customers (no, I am not a dealer for these speakers).

I have talked with owners of these speakers that are using various amplifiers. Most who have tried different amps (all tubes) have prefered higher powered units due to dynamic control.

Most recently, I spoke with a person who is running the ASL 1009 which is 45 watts of 845 power. He now prefers this over his 18-20 watt units of egual quality.

In closing, I quess it would be a matter of auditioning to see what type of presentation best suits your personal taste and listening habits.
