Re: Reichert 300b SE?

Posted by Sherwood on November 15, 1999 at 16:15:21:

Hey Patrick,

I've never heard this unit either and I looked at it long and hard before starting my own 300B project. Like you, I also asked around the various newsgroups and the consensus was that it was not the be-all, end-all of amps. Not only that, but 'heard that even Reichert made some changes later (none of which could I find any documentation on.) I think what you and the rest of us have succumbed to is a great piece of sales literature. It is very convinceing. That said, I imagine the Reichert amp will probably be a helluva good sounding amp. 'Just not sure that it is the pinnacle of SET design.

It's very difficult to decide on a DIY project. I ended up going for a very simple two stage with IT design with a gonzo power supply.

look at the last iteration of his 5842/300B amp.

Hey, it sounds good to me........ as good as the Reichert ??? Who knows....

Good luck,
john
