Re: The high price of NOS Tubes

Posted by gonefishin on January 27, 2003 at 19:31:24:

[i]Hi Everybody,
After reading some of the postings on this site. I ask myself why are the prices for NOS Tubes so high in the USA?

After reading many of the posts at this site (and others) you should have figured out why the prices are so high.

It's funny...someone will post a question about an NOS tube (say the RCA 5691...or whatever) ...after a few days of discussion at a good site, like AA, the price at ebay just goes up...and up...and up. But now it comes time for another guy to sell his tubes...so he looks up what they should go for on ebay...and you guessed it. He picks the highest price every time...then the cycle just repeats itself.

I'm with the other guy below...I recently came into a bunch of tubes...for free! I kept some for myself...and gave the rest away to people who will actually use them. I would rather do this than have a guy buy a crate full of #45 tubes just to sit on them till the price goes up.

On the lighter side...tube rollin' is alotta fun!

enjoy the music!
