Puff, generally it's the voltage stage that gets direct connected to the driver stage.

I can't say I have seen output tubes direct coupled. Remember that you would be sending U3, U4's plate voltage to the grid of the EL84's and so would have to raise their cathodes up by that amount to have the right bias voltage. Then your EL84 plate voltage would have to be very high. Not to mention cathode to heater voltage....getting the idea? I wouldn't try it myself.
