Re: Handwound Transformers Scam

Posted by SteveBrown on October 13, 2003 at 10:10:24:

I ordered a ST70 transformer from him on ebay. I received it in about 8 weeks. I let it sit around for several months before starting an ST70 restoration project - guess what? The transformer will not fit the chassis cutout. I contact him and the response was that there were a number of different ST70 power transformer sizes -- howwever, I've only ever seen one. He did offer to replace the unit, provided I ship mine back first, but given the reputation, I didn't risk it. Just kept the transformer and figured I'd eventually use it in something else. Kind of a shame the company is run so poorly because it seems like he's got the potential for a good niche and price point.
