Intellectually it has always bothered me that single ended amps are asymmetrical, that is they crop the negative half of the wave form, compress it relative to the positive half. I've been told that this is the source of their high, dominant second harmonic distortion, certainly a very musical affect.
Their poor frequency response into a reactive load(all speakers) due to high output impedance(common to most tube amps) bothers me too but way less than the asymmetrical amplification.
