RE: 6av6 = 12AX7?

No, the 6AV6, a seven pin miniature, has two diodes, that must be grounded. The 6AV6 has a round plate and grid structure. This symmetry of construction should be an advantage. No one "I" know of, has A-Bed these two tubes yet. If someone has, speak up !!
I have designed a 6AV6 DCed to the grid of a Type 46, DH amp, coming up soon !!
