fmak has posted about the Buffalo DAC. I believe he had one a while back that had the 24 bit version of the chip. In addition to playing PCM he used it to play DSD which he was able to "liberate" from an SACD player.

I've been thinking of getting one of the Buffalo kits, but every time I have tried to order one the kits have been out of stock. I am also (somewhat) daunted with the need to do surface mount soldering of an expensive high pin count chip, but I have a friend with the necessary tools who says it's not likely to be a big deal. (Most of my soldering experience was in the 50's and 60's and didn't even involve PC boards.)
