RE: Russian capacitor list (long)

The old Soviet era tubes such as the 6n6p, 6n1p-ev, 6h30p, 6s45p-ev, 6p14p-ev, 6p3s-ev, gu50, and gm70 were built for war, which makes them tough as nails, but they sound great as well. A heck of a lot better than the Chinese tubes I've heard, from both a sound and reliability standpoint.
On the other capacitors you say "I better not tell you". I wish you would, as your viewpoint would be very interesting. As far as the caps go, well I haven't heard many Chinese capacitors, would you please suggest some that we may try? If they are better than the Soviet era caps, I'd love to hear them. As it is, I've compared the Soviet caps with many US and European caps, and I think some of them, in the right application, are very good.
A 4uf 600V Vcap in a parafeed application would be ridiculously expensive, so haven't tried them there, but the Russian KBGs have beat the other paper and oils, and plastic caps I've tried. The teflon Ft3s I've compared with the RFT Exotica teflons and are at least 95% as good at 1/10 the cost. I think with a little modification with damping and leads, they might be just as good if not better.
I have noticed that the 1970s and older Soviet tubes seem to be better than later production. I have not been impressed with modern Russian Sovtek and EH tubes, and haven't even seen modern Russian capacitors for sale at all.
Kind of ironic to have a guy from the U.S. defending the quality of Soviet components to a Russian citizen!8^D
