Russ. Thanks for your thoughts. I am now in the process of removing the grid chokes from the amp as I dont have any suitable caps right now to try anything bigger. I am going back to a grid leak resistor, although a higer value than before (470K) so I can try some smaller 0.1 mike Russian teflon caps. I may order a pair of Magnequest 4000H grid chokes as a better alternative after I have tried the teflon caps.

I am using both LP and CD as sources, speakers are Lowther DX4's in Mauhorn V back loaded horns. I dont want to be in the situation where subsonics from the turntable are causing the Lowthers to try producing low bass notes, hence distortion.
