The Murphy Blaster MB1 which has something of a legendary status for sound vs. price is the GR Research AV1 with an older crossover designed by Dennis Murphy. Read the review at GR Research for a comparison of the Paradox 1 with Speaker City Scan 7. My guess for the best stand mount speaker kits would be the GR Research AV1+(which is Danny Richie's favorite among his Paradox and AV stand mounts), the North Creek Borealis, Madisound Solist, Speaker City MTM 18 and the Ellis 1801. If I had to choose I would probably go for the Ellis 1801 with SEAS woofer and Hiquphon tweeter and Dennis Murphy designed crossover. Dave Ellis will also make the cabinets for you, all for about $700.00 but you will have to get in line to get a pair.
