Particle board is denser

Particle board is denser than real wood and thus dampens unwanted cabinet vibration much more effectively than real wood. The cost of working with particle board is cheaper and the savings are usually put into driver or crossover upgrades or in lower prices.
Everyone has different preferences but I choose speakers for how they sound and not on how they look.
