I have 12" Monitor Golds purchased raw (no cabinet) and they had the little red cap spring loaded connectors. My old memory believes that 16
gauge stranded might work, or you can cut out a few strands...
If you can manage a quick simple solder job it is easy to replace those with a more sophisticated connector which would allow thicker wire or spades or banana plugs, not expensive...
