It's never a good idea to buy speakers based on what others recommend. But with your budget and room size, these Pioneers are a good option. They are designed by a speaker genius, and they perform well beyond their asking price. They are nicely efficient too, which helps, as your Yamaha receiver is a bit Manilow if integrated amplifiers are supposed to be hard rock bands (wattage ratings are an alarmingly unreliable specification to follow, either with output from amplifiers or handling ability of a speaker). If you want serious bass, you'll need either sub-woofer, or a pair of much less refined coffins by brands like Klipsch or Cerwin Vega, but musically, these brands leave quite a bit to be desired unless you are a real headbanger or Punk Rocker.
