I've been trying out a pair of Q Acoustics 3050's.

These towers (and other Q Acoustics offerings) have been well reviewed in the UK and now they're sold direct in the US. I've got to say that they're a lot of fun and sound very balanced. I like them more than several other modest-cost speakers I've tried lately.
