Speaker recommendations

After 20 years away from vinyl I am making my way back. I do not have a turn table or a set of speakers yet but do you have a receiver. As I begin to look at the speakers I suddenly realized that it is not exactly an easy thing to find the right match. I now know that I need to find the right sort of power alignment to match my receiver but the more I try to figure it out the more confusing it gets. As I read the specifications paid for my receiver I don't even know which numbers are important. I have a Yamaha R-S700. Not looking to spend a fortune. Any recommendations or advice?
