Didn't read Gary's post 'til after I got off my own soapbox (shame on me). Bringing up the Timewindows and the Maggies in the same breath reminded me: The first time I heard the Timewindows was at a long-defunct place called The Discerning Ear in Baltimore. Discerning Ear also sold Magnepan speakers, and they had the Timewindows set up flanking a pair of Magneplanar Tympani 1B's. We actually A-B'd them, with excellent hardware (probably Audio Research and/or c-j tubes, Denon tt and MC cartridge, as I recall).

OK, I preferred the mammoth Maggies... but in terms of cost and user-friendliness, the DCM's were most impressive.

all the best,
