for the Sky-20DI'll make this short and to the point - Skylan stands offers a great product at a great price. I recently purchased a pair of Harbeth Compact 7s. While supposedly insensitive to stand type, they are very sensitive re: height. I called Skylan and they made up a pair of 2 post 18" stands with a top plate that exactly matches the size of the Harbeth’s. They arrived well packed with very clear instructions.The top and bottoms are MDF with a durable looking matte black finish and the posts are thick extruded plastic. The bottoms can be fitted with either spikes or hard plastic feet and both types are adjustable. The tops include adhesive flat rubber pads to couple to the speaker to the stand. (You can omit those and use blue tak if you like) Assembly is simple. A threaded rod screws into the top plate, extends through each post and then is screwed down in a recessed hole in the bottom plate. Noel even includes the appropriate wrench! There is a hole on the top plate above each post that allows you to mass load the stands with sand. Skylan includes a custom funnel for the sand. (It looks like a party hat with a brass spout that fits tightly into the hole in the top plate. Strange to look at, but it works perfectly!)
I cannot say that these stands sound better than other stands on the market - I have not bothered to listen. But, given that they are non-resonant, stable and have a top plate that supports the entire speaker, I can’t imagine other stands sounding any better. When you add the overall quality of construction, customization options, reasonable price and fantastic customer service, I think they are an easy recommendation for anyone in the market for speaker stands. I can’t imagine owning anything else.
