I believe Fedex is as well-managed as its weakest link. Although the company has rigid policies for its independant contractors, it may not always be policed as well as it should be, especially if you live in a sparsely-populated area where contractor competition is minimal. Like UPS or USPS, some people are going to love Fedex and some people are going to hate Fedex .... mostly depending on their location. It's just that Fedex may be more prone to variations with customer experience due to its business model.
