boston whaler 11'4"

Posted by cyriaque on August 13, 2001 at 16:38:30:

I tried to post this earlier and maybe this is a duplicate. I'm looking for opinions on putting an 18 hp tohatsu outboard on my 11'4" whaler. It now has a 15 hp merc that doesn't cut it. The tohatsu weighs about 20 pounds more. The boat is "rated" for a 10 hp but that was a while back when motors were much heavier. I need enough power to put 2 people with camping gear on plane.

Opinions appreciated.
