Bass Boat Clear Finish

Posted by JonVIP on March 23, 2003 at 20:24:36:

I have an old 79 VIP bass boat... The clear finish was redone about 6 years ago by an ignorant cousin who used clear from an aerosal can and is now crackin horribly. I plan to redo this myself this time. I believe what I need is a clear acrylic correct? I dont have that much to clear, so I could brush it on. Is there a special clear I should be for marine applications only or will any clear acrylic work? How many coats would be sufficient when brushing instead of spraying? Does anyone see a problem brushing vs spraying? I sanded a good area and compounded/waxed and I think it will look as good as the day it came off the show room floor if done properly. Thanks for any advice!!
