Worried about my Johnson 6.5 motor...

Posted by Eddie on October 11, 2002 at 16:25:55:

I have noticed that my Johnson 6.5 outboard motor seems to be over heating. The water pump is working I can see the water coming out, but after a little while of running it I notice a lot of water vapor coming from the motor. The water coming out of the water pump is pretty hot too.

Is this normal, or is there something wrong?

I keep my motor attached on my boat docked on the shore, could this be water that is piling up on top of the motor from the rain that is causing this vapor? I find it lasts too long to rain water puddled on top of the motor.
