reliability of 2000 johnson 25 hp.

Posted by jays on October 16, 2003 at 06:40:59:

I'm a first time boat owner and I'm looking at a 2000 Johnson 2-stroke 25hp to power my 14 foot batteau. It's supposed to have only 80 hours on the motor and no previous problems. I've heard horror stories about the unreliability of Johnson outboards, and since I'll be fishing with my 2 small kids, reliability is key to me. Any comments about your experiences with this type of motor would be most appreciated.
