Alice In Chains Concert!

Posted by Cory M. on August 13, 2006 at 21:01:45:

Went to the A. I. C. concert last night here in Sioux Falls- man, my ears are still ringing, but it was worth it. Next time I gotta remember to bring those audiophile- approved ear plugs.

The show was very good- minus one huge aspect of course- the late Layne Staley. The whole original lineup was there besides him: Jerry Cantrell, Mike Inez, and Sean Kinney. The singer was awesome- he had a great voice, and plenty of soul and angst to go along with it. But still, no Layne of course. I wish that Jerry would have sang more. That was a key ingredient in AIC's recipe- the harmonizing between the two. I would have done anything to go back and see them 10 years ago. All in all, the concert didn't let me down, and that's from a very critical long time fan. One of my fave bands ever. It did draw me in.

The setlist was quite good also, and different than what I expected. They even did a little of their "acoustic" stuff. (I say it that way because the songs started out that way on the album, but at the show only Jerry got his acoustic guitar out and the rest of the band was in-your-face plugged in.) They did a few tunes off of each album. I especially enjoyed hearing Sludge Factory, No Excuses, Love, Hate, Love, and Rain When I Die live. And of course, they did the huge ones.

If you are a fan at all, and they are coming anywhere near you- Go and see them! Well worth it, they put on a hell of a show.
