The Triffids site has some music available from a mixtrue of sources but I would wholeheartedly recommend you read the comments on Born Sandy Devotional there and try to hear that record first.
Listening to The Triffids, you may get a feel for a quality of "Australian-ness" that Nick Cave has sought, also using a few members of The Triffids in his band over the years.
The title of The Go Betweens DVD, That Striped Sunlight Sound, comes from a description of their music indicating the effect of sunlight through the batons commonly found across the porches on Queensland houses to filter the intense heat and light we get here.
This description of the disc from allmuisc...http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:6hmsa93gr23f
may fill in a few details. I was privileged to have been at that show, although I wish to hell it hadn't become their finale...
