Hey TA! I left him off only because I think that his great talent lies in being more of a composer than an actual musician, at least when it came to the bass (as opposed to the piano). I would rate someone like Carole Kaye higher than BW as an actual player. As far as actualy coming up with parts--and I do believe he wrote much if not all of what his session people played on instruments like bass--he belongs at the top of any list. But if you watch footage of him actually playing the thing, I think he falls a bit short as a player.
