Giuffria, "Lonely In Love"

Posted by Luminator on April 13, 2025 at 00:06:01:

No, we don't have any photos from 1985, when we were in 8th grade. But 40 years ago, I was over at a friend's house, near San Francisco's Park Presidio. That family was well-to-do, and had cable TV.

While the sister was cleaning the shower and tub, MTV aired Giuffria's "Lonely In Love." I do not recall ever hearing that song on the radio.

I don't think I heard "Lonely In Love" again, until 1992, when I lived in a college apartment. One of my neighbors actually had Giuffria on cassette. So, while cleaning the bathroom, we moved a boombox nearby, and listened to Giuffira's "Lonely In Love."

My wife and I were recently in Santa Cruz. Via her iPhone, she played Giuffria's "Lonely In Love." "Call To The Heart" was Giuffria's hit. "Lonely In Love" was never all that well-known in 1985, when it came out. Arguably, it's even less well-known now. But that's why we audiophiles bring it up.
