Blue Zone UK, "Jackie"

Posted by Luminator on August 26, 2023 at 15:14:50:

35 years ago, just before school started, my fellow seniors had to go out to campus, to take "senior portraits." The photoshoots took place out in the "T's," our so-called temporary classrooms, which actually lasted for decades. We had to put on the fake tux and cap & gown.

But we also took informal photos, some of which were submitted to the yearbook committee.

Afterward, some of us took MUNI Metro across San Francisco, and ended up in Union Square. While shopping, we saw the video for Blue Zone UK's "Jackie." Yes, we did have a few schoolmates named Jackie, both male and female. No, we did not know who Blue Zone UK were. And no, we did not know that their lead singer was Lisa Stansfield, who, in late 1989 and early 1990, would have an international hit, in "All Around The World."

"Jackie" was written by Steinberg & Kelly, for some 1987 movie called Summer School. The Blue Zone UK version was produced by Paul Staveley O'Duffy, who would work with Swing Out Sister.
