Death, "The Philosopher"

Posted by Luminator on July 19, 2023 at 19:23:15:

Summer of 1993 was just a weird period. Grunge and rap had taken over. Or rather, all forms of media crammed those down our throats. So there was a thirst for other musical genres. And that's where Death's then-new album, Individual Thought Patterns, found a niche.

Here, Chuck Shuldiner hired Andy LaRocque from King Diamond, Gene Hoglan from Dark Angel, and Steve Di Giorgio. Interestingly the latter two are now in Testament.

Although "Trapped In A Corner" may have been my favorite from Individual Thought Patterns, there was a video for "The Philosopher." For whatever reason, that inspired my friend Jules to try getting a temporary henna tattoo.

There's a line which goes, "You know so much about nothing at all," which, whoops, seemed to point a finger at us audiophiles :-)
