It definitely is the case that you can dig out info with the brain. Harking back to another of your posts, the more familiar you are with the material the more you can dig in. It can take an effort of will and can be tiring. This is probably one reason that people complain about test conditions for some A/Bing setups, etc.

Also I know that personally since I do tend to listen this way when I'm A/Bing that the answer I get isn't necessarily the answer I'd like when I want to just relax and listen for a while. They are two different forms of listening.
