Less $$ Active Monitor Alternatives to Adam A7X / A8X?

Posted by pete1 on February 6, 2013 at 10:53:51:

Folks, pardon the new thread, just want to focus on recommendations on the current crop of active studio monitors for 2 channel listening pleasure. I auditioned the Adam A7X yesterday at a local Guitar Center and, without any doubt, most of my must-have attributes were there: tranparency, imagining and tonal balance of music instrument, particularly acoustic. Jazz sounds spectacular with these babies! The only issue: they cost $1400/pr. So the questions:

Are there any under $1K alternatives to the Adam A7X / A8X that performs at the same or better level?

What about the Emotiva's Airmotiv 6 and Equator D5?
