Opposite experience here. Had the EE for a month and put its output on a tape monitor loop so I could do a direct A/B with the Touch's internal DAC. The EE was indistinguishable from the Touch's DAC. I would describe neither as "terrible." I preferred my Theta DAC on redbook files over both though, but could live with the EE or the Touch's DAC if I had to.
