If the Benchmark DAC-1 is configured properly (minimum attenuation on balanced outs), it will definitely outperform the SB2 analog outs assuming that you use a quality 1.5m S/PDIF cable. I have heard both combinations. It also upsamples to 24/192. Benchmark has made some smart changes to the DAC-1 over the past year, so an old DAC-1 may sound different.
