Best way for YouTube on DAC?

Is the web browser set at HQ playing YouTube via Chrome still the best way to get YouTube audio?

I had a Chromecast to HDMI to SPDIF converter but prefer the USB sound. Question is in more regards to software players, does anyone know an application that crawls YouTube and just outputs audio?
