The flicker is no concern and easy to fix.

Its a 6.3 volt bulb that's running at about 4.5V. If running at 6.3 volts it would not flicker, but it would be way too bright! The problem is the contact on the rear of the bulb has a slight amount of corrosion. Remove the bulb by first removing the lens (unscrews); the bulb is released by pushing on it while simultaneously rotating it counterclockwise 90 degrees (bayonet mount, FWIW). Move your fingers out of the way at that point and it will come out of its socket.
Burnish the contact on the end of the bulb by rubbing it vigorously on the carpet or the like for a few seconds and then reinstall it. No more flicker.
