More fun with ZEROs

Posted by George M on November 24, 2001 at 16:24:45:

Today I got some long drywall screws and attached the boxed ZEROs to the back of the Merlins using the speakers' own screw holes on the rear access panel. (check your warranty before trying this.) Now the speakers look like little men with backpacks, but the ZEROs are out of the way and the wires are as short as they possibly can be.

The big surprise is the change in sound. That heavy box on the back of the speaker makes a significant difference in the character of the bass and maybe in the mids as well. Bass is even more tactile and "in your face", but it borders on being too much for my taste. It may be less musical. Some experimenting with speaker placement and room treatment may be in order.
