News from Balanced.Audio Technology

During this difficult time we believe it is extremely important for all of us to remain focused and to continue our progress. In light of that, we are proud to introduce some additional products as well as several new upgrades to existing ones.

Our Special Edition Series (SE) have been recognized in the industry as providing substantial improvements to our base products. The VK-P10SE has been long awaited and very much worth the wait. While the VK-P10 was justly placed on the Stereophile Class A list after its review, the SE version moves it good distance further in its sound quality.

The VK-P10SE is available now at $6000. Any VK-P10 can be upgraded to SE model status for $2000.

The VK-D5 CD player, also the Class A product, now gets a 24 bit signal path, including the new digital filter.

Its price moves up to $5000 for the base model, and to $6000 for the SE version – both up $500 from the old prices.

Both upgrades are available to current users. The SE upgrade is priced at $1200, and the 24 bit upgrade at $800.

The list of upgrades for other products has been expanded, and now includes the “SIX-PAK Plus” options for VK-20 and VK-P5. These are priced at $750 and $900 respectively, and include substantial upgrades to both the signal capacitors as well as power supply components.

Any older VK-60 unit with PC boards of Rev. D and earlier, can have its boards replaced with the latest Rev F boards for $1750. This allows the customer to obtain the full benefits of all the incremental improvements that have happened over the VK-60 production lifetime.

SE upgrades are currently available for the following products: VK-5i, VK-30, VK-50, VK-P10, VK-D5, VK-60, VK-75 and VK-150.

Due to increased costs, we have also raised the prices on some models. The VK-50SE preamplifier is now priced at $7500, up $500, and the VK-30SE is now $4495, up $200. The VK-P10 Phono Stage price goes up to $4500.

We have been very active of late in making people in the press and general public aware of Balanced Audio Technology and our latest product offerings. The VK-40 solid-state preamplifier recently received an excellent review in Stereophile. The same writer, Robert Deutsch, also wrote a single page sidebar on the new stereo tube amplifiers - VK-75 and VK-75SE. This has resulted in all three of these products being added to "Class A" in Recommended Components in October's Stereophile.

The new multi-channel amplifier VK-6200 has also received a superlative recommendation in the latest edition (September-October) of The Perfect Vision magazine. Please read the most enthusiastic phrase of that product by Wayne Garcia The VK-6200 is now one of only two amps to be included in "Class 1" in The Perfect Vision's "Buyer's Guide" to multi-channel amplifiers. There are more reviews of the VK-6200 that are forthcoming.

The VK-50SE hardly needs any introduction, and its already impressive list of positive reviews is growing. The latest addition to this list is a wonderful article by Sue Kraft in the Positive Feedback magazine, Volume 9, Number 2.

Our best wishes to all our customers, and to all good people in this great country and abroad.

For Balanced Audio Technology,

Victor Khomenko
