Posted by RandyB on October 29, 2002 at 23:49:52:

O. S. Services, Inc. is happy to announce the world-wide debut of Audist Loudspeakers at THE Show, January 9-13, 2003, in Suite 805 of the San Remo Hotel in Las Vegas. Audist is a new line of high-efficiency loudspeakers designed to work well with low-powered directly heated triode single-ended amplifiers, as well as with high-powered solid-state amplifiers.

AUDIST LOUDSPEAKERS - Preliminary Specifications:

Minimum 95dB sensitivity
High and Low Frequency waveguides formed in solid poplar front baffles
Baffle decoupled from cabinet with viscous-elastomer resins

RECITAL SERIES - 3-100 watts, 150 watts peak, customized Eminence woofers, 1" compression driver
Recital 1 - 95dB, 65-20KHz + 3dB, 14H x 8W x 9D, 6" woofer $695/pair
Recital 2 - 95dB, 59-20KHz + 3dB, 14H x 8W x 14D, 6" woofer $995/pair

Design Goals: Audist loudspeakers are designed to work well with low-powered directly heated triode single-ended amplifiers (SET's), using output tubes such as 2A3, 300B, PX25, EL34, 845. All models are 2-way designs with minimum sensitivity of 95dB. Audist loudspeakers feature polypropylene capacitors, air-core copper foil inductors, Vishay and Clarostat resistors, silver solder, and rhodium and gold-plated 5-way binding posts.

Extended Bass Shelf: Extended Bass Shelf (EBS) bass alignment lowers the frequency response by 1-2dB below 200Hz, to improve the quality of the bass response when being driven by SET's, which typically produce
a warmer bass than solid state amps, due to their lower damping factor. According to Dick Olsher, noted reviewer and currently Senior Technical Editor of Enjoy the Music: "Such an alignment [EBS] is best suited for medium to small listening rooms where excessive midbass response may be a problem. The EBS alignment achieves lower bass extension at the cost of reduced response in the midbass. However, typical room gain below 150 Hz usually fills in the missing bass at the listening seat." All models feature adjustable bass tuning ports to alter the bass response to work well with solid state amplifiers, and to help match the bass output to the charactertistics of the listening room.

Constant Directivity Low Frequency and High Frequency Waveguides: Two constant directivity waveguides are formed in the front baffle, one for the woofer and one for the HF driver, which reduce horzontal and vertical early reflections and room effects, produce a timbrally accurate wavefront, minimize baffle diffraction effects, and
increase gain by as much as 6dB.

Contoured Front Baffle: The front baffle is contoured to elminate baffle diffraction effects, fashioned from solid Poplar, highly regarded for its low resonance. The constant directivity waveguides are formed into the baffle itself, minimizing alignment anomalies and mechanical resonance associated with separately formed elements. The flared bass tuning ports are also formed from the baffle, providing an aesthetically pleasing appearance, as well as functionality.
