CD labels to look for (good and not so good)?

Just upgraded CDP and I'm hearing major differences between CD labels. The disks I received from B_G are especially harsh and lack bass definition. Thank goodness only sprang for the .01 offer. Are there and cd clubs of decent quality or should I just stick to store purchases? If so what labels are preferable. Interested in all types of music. I guess the software makes all the difference in the world. Thanks for any incite.
