Well take it from this old S.O.B. I listened to a ton of music in my time:
* seen the Beatles live three times
* Rolling Stones when they were the real Rolling Stones
* watched Janis Joplin get it with Otis Redding at Monterey!!!
* was at the Fillmore east with the Allman Bros. band
* watched all those old women knock down the mics at the Chiago
Jazz festival. (the old man was on fire)
* discovered Stan Getz at the same fest
* have watched the great Roy Orbison in concert at lest half
dozen times
* Jerry Lee kick the piano set and play with his foot
* Carlos Santana several times
* Monty Alexander play in a church to a half dozen encores
* Albert King dressed in his starched bibs showing us how to play
up and down the neck with four pick ups (shedding a couple
tears now)
* Weather Report set the place on fire in a near perfect music
hall
* Spyro Gyra play at the same place and just as well
* Shorter and Hancock play some of the most diffecult music out
there
* Issac Stern and a young Russian bring tears to my eyes
* Stevie Ray jam all night long
* B.B. and Eric play "you Don't Love Me" at two in the morning
* Bill Monroe at least fifty times pluck on that old mandolin
* Eddie Gomez, Chuck Isreal, & Marc Johnson and an old man
named Jimmy Cobb show what the world really is!
* Miles Davis when he wanted to play
* Dylan and Petty have fun in the back room
* and last but least George Jones, Lester Flatt & Earl Scruggs
along with the Who, Aretha Franklin, both Ettas and many my
feeble mind just can't remember.
Now all these folks are old (many are passed away, but not forgotten)
and all of the are better than what's out there now!
