Joseph Haydn's Heiligmesse

Posted by Jay Buridan on July 1, 2017 at 13:49:03:

Full disclosure.. I'm an agnostic who enjoys western sacred music with Latin lyrics with the notable exception of the Missa Solemnis, which I never cared for.

Anyway, last night I listened several times to Haydn's Heiligmesse conducted by Sir Neville Marriner. It's such a great performance in every way -- much superior to John Eliot Gardiner's version.

If you love Haydn, wish to learn to love Haydn, or wish to learn to love sacred music, suggest you give a listen...
