Some additional information about his previous posts (which I hadn't been aware of) has come to light - relating to threats against other members. Threats, especially physical threats, are not allowed on this site, even if intended in a joking manner. (Remember, it's often hard to determine tone and intent on the internet.) In addition, my understanding is that Newey had received a permanent ban years ago before his recent re-appearances over the last year or so. In a sense this current ban simply reinstates what already existed.

I'm taking this action after consultation with other moderators on this forum.
