I'm a big HIP fan and especially a big Faust fan, but I was little gun-shy about HIP Franck and Chausson.

Obviously they don't use Beethoven's fortepiano, and the period piano they do indeed use sounds quite nice.

Talk about old age though, I was going to download the whole thing, quite forgetting that I already have the Chausson download from Chandos and it's wonderful. I even mentioned it in here.

I'm downloading the Franck as we speak. I know the very popular Lupu/Chung version but the Finale is a bit relentless and thick. I'm hoping that the Faust/Melnikov is as "crystalline" as they promise.

Has there ever been a better time in human history to be a fan of Classic music?
