Chick Corea, Further Explorations

Lets start by mentioning the audio quality which in my view and in my system is the best sounding live jazz piano trio recording I have heard.
Everything sounds right, the piano tonal quality, the sound stage, the dynamics, it is really like being there.
Motian drums are particularly well recorded, on first listening he made me jump out of my seat a few times, dynamics and details galore.
Gomez mumbling why playing is so real that it could be in your room.
As far as the music in my opinion it is also one of the best jazz cd to come out in years. It is a sort of a tribute to Bill Evans and the fact that 2 of Evans stable mate are playing with Corea, Paul Motian and Eddie Gomez confirm this. I never been a great fan of Chick Corea but on this one I cannot fault him,he even swings, he also does to try to sound like Evans except that now and then he uses chords in the same was as Evans did. Both Gomez and Motian are at their best, especially Motian who surpasses himself. Motian has always been one of my fav drummer but here he confirm that he was the best.
This was recorded in 2010 a year before he died at 80. Now I just wish that another cd from these sessions at the Blue Note will be released
This cd is definitely a cd to demonstrate great music with great sound, to get the 2 together is a rare thing indeed.
