You know, that song was written about "Tom's Restaurant", a local diner here on Broadway and 112th street (the same one which was shot for Seinfeld). It's where all of our students regularly dine, and actually, S.Vega went to our school (she was a music major at Barnard, I believe). Her song lyrics were used in a restaurant review of this little diner, which, appropriately as she sung, is a rather seedy and dimly-lit place, where the waiters all hang around chatting, and the guy behind the counter flirts with all the girls.

A month ago, Suzanne Vega actually performed at our school to raise money for Amnesty International. Oh well, just some thoughts. :)
