Just bought a new-to-me Maggie, a CC5 centerchannel.

I believe, as Richard Vandersteen, too, does, that center channels and CC speakers are for dialogue and not special effects.. Said another way, if a CC speaker has 'normal' bass level and extention, it'll sound too thick with voices.. After my Martin Logan triple-hybrid CC speaker started ticking at me a couple months ago, I tried a two new CCs; wasn't happy with either.
I then discovered that Magnepan builds CC speakers WITHOUT bass sections, so I bought a $1450-MSRP CC5 for $850 on USAudiomart.. It sounds EXCELLENT, with articulate voices.. Of course that makes it sound thin with music, so I simply take a few seconds to reconfigure the system to not include a CC speaker, and multichannel music sounds excellent.
I'm very happy with these results.
