let's look at the demographics; or those who shop at a Costco..

I agree with the other poster who stated the majority of folks that shop at 'fast food' retailers are looking for speakers that have a lot of bass and high end 'twizzle'. I'll even admit 5 years ago I would have walked right pass Magnepans (before I was committed to high-fi) if they were setup next to a flurry of mass market Boom Boxes ie Sony, JBL, (I'm not even sure if Costco carries these brands).
Again the demographics; Poll the first 10,000 people who visit a Costco in a week and I'd waiger none have even heard of Magnepan or Martin Logan. The stores I'm sure would'nt have em' setup right (or running for that matter), hell my local high end dealer can hardly set em' up right in a controled environment! Tweeter for the most part is an exception (at least the one I've visited; having a dedicated listening room for the top ML's).
Again, with the machine tooling/retooling, wages, benefits, return hassles, shipping nightmares, new hires, there's no way I'd send a set of MMG's to the local Costco on a National level. And if the objective is thinking 'well who ever buy's these will surely want the MG1.6's, 3.6's (which, btw is probally more money than one would spend in a lifetime at Costco) so we'll take a small profit margin or lost is one helluva risk.
But lost is not a 'bad' thing if there's an indication you'll recover in the long run. Planting a few MMG's in a Circuit City,Best Buy, hell even Radio Shack would'nt be a BAD idea; I just don't think that audience would be found at a Walmart, Costco etc,....
OTOH; Costco does have about 1000% more foot traffic than your local audio dealer. Those are good odds even in Vegas...Who the hell knows....
