CNN commentator General Mark Hertling in a 39 minute interview with The Bulwark's Charlie Sykes gets into a lot more details than your average armchair strategist about why he believes Russia's V. Putin had a brain fart of the worst kind when he decided to invade Ukraine. He doesn't talk all Rainbows and Roses and it will get a lot uglier before the sun peeks through the clouds of war.

General Hertling was the Commanding General of United States Army Europe and the Seventh Army from March 2011 to November 2012.
